The outside door handle attatches to the door latch by a metal rod that is clipped into a retainer that it attached to the latch.

The door handle no longer moves the tongue far enough. Sounds complicated but isn t really. After determining the problem with the system the malfunctioning piece will be replaced. Use pliers or a utility knife making sure to not cut into the black rubber sleeve on the cable.

2 remove the cable from the latch mechanism. There will be no illumination on the keypad. Change out the battery on the keyless entry remote control if the car is not responding to the buttons you press. The plastic retainer may have opened up and allowed the rod to drop off the latch.

This is a symptom of a low battery that is going to require keypad replacement. You have to remove the interior panels to expose a hole in the sheet metal through which you detach the handle. This is due to the battery dieing. In order to replace the window regulator you need to take the door panel off by removing the armrest bolts and door handle screws.

You will have to remove the drivers door panel to look inside the door near the handle and make sure the rod is still attached. Your window glass is secured in place by the window regulator. Put it back into the door panel and test the window. Removal methods differ by vehicle make year see a repair manual for specific instructions.

Just don t damage the water shield. You ll need tools to remove various sizes of star washers 10 20 and 30 if i recall. 1 remove cable assembly from door. 3 remove broken plastic cable ferrule.

A mechanic can often tell by the sound whether the problem lies with the fuse the power door lock switch or the power door lock actuator. You basically have to remove the handles to gain access and put the biggest most brutal screwdriver or oversized square bar you can find into.
