I bought a logitech marble trackman.

To scroll you hold the small button down and move the ball up and down left and right.
If it doesn t scroll then install open setpoint and set back button to generic button.
Button 1 and button 4 middle click.
Now i have universal scroll and autoscroll as options and both lock the scroll function.
The rightmost button is for right clicking and context menus.
There s no middle button in this trackball and there s two ways around it.
Click and hold left mouse button back button and simultaneously move marble on the mouse up and down to scroll.
Now i am working under win8 and installed logitech setpoint.
The left button is for regular and double clicking.
Uses the small left button for browsing forward.
I am used to hold one button and roll the ball to scroll under linux.
Button 2 single click is back.
Add the following text to the x configuration file.
Enables vertical scrolling by pressing and holding the small right button while moving the trackball.
Hardware ids for the marble mouse buttons remain constant regardless of device configuration.
I need a second click to deactivate scrolling.

For several years now i have been using a logitech trackman marble together with a libinput tweak to use the trackball for scrolling by holding down one of the buttons while spinning the ball.
As stated this just works so no need to change anything.
It works as a scroll button in windows.
Press and hold to scroll freely horizontally and vertically.
The center button doesn t seem to work under ubuntu 10 10.
Make sure there is enough content to scroll scroll bar visible.
It has a large trackball for your thumb on the left and three buttons for your fingers.
