Toddler Falling Down Carpeted Stairs

I was barefoot having just taken off my slippers that merit their name.

Kids have accidents no matter how much we put in their path to prevent them. I was not a fan of carpeting before moving into my current home where the stuff covers two stairwells and the whole second floor. My heart stood still. I keep replaying it in my mind and crying.

Rolled down them like a movie stunt man and hit the floor at the bottom. My husband and my 13 year old son flew to the stairs but weren t able to catch him. I screamed when i saw him go over the first step. He has some lumps and carpet burn on his head but that seems to the be the extent.

My daughter fell down stairs too. Toddler fell down the stairs. He is fine but i am not. Because my 11 year old step daughter left the gate open.

Do you think safety at home is important. My 2 year old fell down the stairs today at a birthday party right in front of my eyes. There are tons of moms and dads that have had babies fall from changing tables or down stairs or off the bed my first born did that and i am sure there are a number of other typical accidents out there. My 14 month old fell down stairs four days ago and im still so freaked out he cried right away and is fine except for a carpet burn on his right eye and nose but the guilt and shame you feel as a parent is unbelieveable im still having nightmares and i will never forget the noise of hearing my baby fall down stairs like other parents i.
